Bi-monthly writings to help you on your spiritual journey.

Jesus had a way of taking people from where they were, from their point of need, and leading them to where he wanted them to be. There was no manipulation. He never forced anyone to follow him like some ruthless dictator. To follow or not to follow Christ has always been man’s choice. Jesus stated in Rev. 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” He knocks, but he won’t barge in on your life. There’s no doorknob on his side of the door. He will knock, but you must open. The most powerful thing God has ever given to any of us outside of Christ himself is our freedom to choose.
If your choice is to follow, the AGAPE Church of Christ is dedicated to help you grow in the Journey. AGAPE is a church for people who want to grow in their faith and follow in Jesus footsteps. We believe that our “religious service” doesn’t end on Sunday morning after worship. Rather, that’s when it begins. We are a church that is on a constant journey towards spiritual maturity. We embrace the spirit of the Apostle Paul who said, “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us forward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” (Phil. 3:12-14 MSG)
Spiritual maturity occurs when a person is solid and clear about his or her faith. He not only knows what he believes, but why he believes it. We are steadfast in our desire to have a greater understanding of God’s word and offer several opportunities for you to grow in your understanding of the Bible. Our Sunday sermons are always biblically based, but relevant to a 21st Century existence. AGAPE also offers discipleship groups throughout the week in local restaurants and coffee shops. And on Wednesday nights we have “Two Forty-Two.” This time is dedicated to following the example of Acts 2:42 where the early Christians met together to eat, talk, pray, and study. We also offer periodic workshops and seminars to help you grow as a person, employee, a husband or wife, or as a parent.
At AGAPE we also believe spiritual maturity is obtained through dynamic corporate worship. This is the primary reason the writer of Hebrews wrote, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25 NIV). From this text we learn that the early church understood the importance of encouraging each other in worship, and so do we.
Sometimes people hesitate to become a part of a church because they feel like they will be judged if they don’t have their life all together. Rest assured, AGAPE is a judgement free zone. Yes, we want to help you grow, but we will be patient with you when you develop faith spasms or doubts concerning your Christian walk. No one is perfect, and that includes us. AGAPE exists to love God and love people. And that includes you.
